- Summary
- Proteolytic cleavage, functional group modifications like phosphorylation, and the alteration of chemical properties on amino acid residues are critical mechanisms driving structural and functional changes in proteins. These Post-Translational Modifications (PTMs) act as essential regulators of almost all cellular signaling pathways and networks. By adding various functional groups, altering chemical properties of residues, or modifying the structure of covalent bonds, PTMs significantly influence localization and cellular dynamics. Our research aim is to develop computational tools that can understand the temporal and spatial regulatory roles of these PTMs involved in complex biological signaling pathways.
