- Summary
- Poor management of food in a school can seriously compromise agricultural strategies and the development of biodiversity. With the exception of a few spaces set aside for wild plants, modern schools often have uniform and simplistic food management, making spontaneous bird collection very difficult. This careless approach favors the export of wild seeds for the insectivore rather than storing them for human consumption, thus creating a critical deficiency in our countries' natural resources. In addition, the reduction of spaces dedicated to wild plants aggravates the problems of intercrossing of plants, which harms their survival and their diversity. To overcome these obstacles, communities must adapt to create community and educational gardens where each tree and wild plant becomes a tool for personal and communal development. These initiatives are welcome because they strengthen ecological resilience and allow local populations to reconnect with the environment. The example of the Mouscron feeder perfectly illustrates the importance of a balanced and inclusive system which transforms urban spaces into reservoirs of biodiversity, thus ensuring the future of the birds and living beings which cross French territories each year.
