- Summary
- The Pacifica Radio Archives Legacy Project, now underway, is supported by the Pacifica Foundation and the American Archive of Public Broadcasting (AAPB), a collaboration between GBH and the Library of Congress. These organizations will digitize approximately twenty thousand reel-to-reel tapes for public access through the AAPB website, AmericanArchive.org, using materials from WPFW, WBAI, KPFK, and KPFA which date back to the 1970s.
Although the collection spans over fifty years, very few tapes remain from KPFT in Houston, as the entire collection was lost years ago. The new digital platform will offer accessible access to previously digitized materials that could previously remain unpublished. This initiative aims to restore forgotten voices by preserving historical broadcasting audio through collaborative digital resources. - Title
